German Apple Strudel Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
For the dough:
400 gr all-purpose flour
1 pinch salt
3 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 egg
150 ml of water
For the Filling:
800 g apples
1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp cinnamon
120 g sugar
50 g bread crumbs
50 g butter to fry bread crumbs
50 g butter to brush onto the strudel
1 pinch confectioners Sugar
INSTRUCTIONS:
Knead all dough ingredients for 5 minutes.
Put into the fridge to rest for 30 minutes.
Prepare the apples: Remove skin and cores.
Cut the apples into small pieces.
Add lemon, sugar & cinnamon to the apples.
Melt the butter in a pan and add bread crumbs.
Roast the bread crumbs for a little bit.
Roll the dough as thin as possible.
Add roasted crumbs and apple slices & roll.
Place it on a baking sheet & brush w/ butter.
Bake at 190°C / 375°F for about 20–25 mins.
Sprinkle w/ confectioners sugar.
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream
